Loose Leaf Notes – Green Lodging for Pet and Electric Car Owners

Hotel Floyd

Colleen Redman is reporting on her blog that the Hotel Floyd is continuing to embrace the green initiatives that inspired its founding…

The first electric car charger in Floyd County and maybe in the New River Valley is now located in the parking lot of the Hotel Floyd’s new addition. ~ Loose Leaf Notes » Blog Archive » Green Lodging for Pet and Electric Car Owners.

The Hotel Floyd is the place we spent our first nights in Floyd. It was Colleen’s description of the Hotel and its grand opening in 2007 that partially inspired our stay. The description of the Floyd community in the blogs of Fred First, Colleen, Doug Thompson and David St. Lawrence had a lot to do with that first hit and run visit.

Floyd has become the town I follow closest in Virginia because it’s a town that speaks to my own nature. A little bit geeky, a little bit country with a big pinch of flower child thrown in. It’s a town with a story, a town with a past in the 19th century trying to figure out its place in the 21st century.

If you are in the area tomorrow (Saturday June 18th), try and make the Market Breakfast…Fred First posted this this morning…

I’ve told you about the Market Breakfast tomorrow morning (830 and 945 seatings) and the all-day downtown Floyd Jubilee centered at Lineberry Park between the Floyd Country Store and DogTown Pizza.

And later you can meet Fred at The Country Store…

…from 2 to 5 pm, find three authors near the famous Friday Nite stage: Joe Tennis, Charles Thompson (new book release!) and Fred First. That last guy will also have his 20 Floyd County photographic note cards on display and for sale, while he watches folks buy the other guys’ books. ~ Fragments From Floyd — Photos and Front Porch Musing from Floyd County Virginia.
