Roanoke Ranked 16 In Money Magazine’s 25 Best Places To Retire

Another magazine has ranked a Virginia mountain city in a top 25 list…This time it’s Roanoke and the list is the Best Places To Retire. Money magazine likes the area for retirement. Outside likes the area south of Roanoke, around Blacksburg,  for it’s outdoor lifestyle. It looks as if the area is catching national attention.

The Appalachian Trail comes through the city, and the region is home to a collection of lakes and rivers. Roanoke’s Carvins Cove Natural Reserve, the second-largest municipal park in the U.S., offers more than 12,000 acres of hiking, biking and horseback riding. Its 800-acre lake caters to boaters and anglers.
